I am Amanda and this is our small family-owned business. We are located in Mount Isa North-West Queensland on the banks of the Leichhardt River.
Mount Isa proudly claims to be the largest city in the world by landmass. It is a mining town with an air of self-confidence and vibrancy, though mining dominates the local economy, Mount Isa does not feel like just another outback mining town, It feels like home to many who visit.

The Kalkadoon People, also known as the Kalkatungu or Kalkadungu are our descendants and traditional owners of the land “Kalkadoon Country”.
Aboriginal culture and identity is very much an important part of living in Mount Isa.

A little about us
We created this small business from our love and passion of aromatic smells.
I am a home-based business and with almost everything we stock, I personally hand make myself from my workspace at home.

How things started
I am a stay-at-home mother and we as a family made the decision not to send our son to child care but I also had a desire to return to the workforce but doing something I love and am passionate about, All the while being home to support my family. In the beginning, it started out as a hobby to create beautiful aromatic scents to enjoy for myself personally and our friends & family, Without expecting it to take off like it did, to have grown and expanded further then locally, to where we are today. The support of the local community and those nationally has been amazing, The response has been overwhelming and exciting.

Those that question, What does the business name A & D stand for?
It represents our names – Amanda & Dale. Dale is my other half, and also my silent business partner.
Dale may be quiet in the background but has encouraged and supported this business and helped me achieve my goals.

Regarding products
When it came to the products we wanted them to be handmade from Ingredients that were as natural as possible. We chose to use soy wax, Not only are there “green” advantages to choosing soy wax, but it also burns slower than paraffin wax, meaning you get a candle or melt that lasts longer. We fell in love with our chosen blend after a lot of research and testing. It works well for us & our customers, the positive feedback speaks for itself as do the products.
